Ron Natherson, Jr. (Nate) joined Gulfstream as President, Chief Executive Officer and Board Member in May 2019. Ron is an accomplished insurance-industry executive and brings over two decades of experience with operations management, corporate strategy, claims and catastrophe management, sales & marketing, media relations, governmental affairs, and corporate communications.
Prior to joining Gulfstream, Ron served as Chief Operating Officer for Southern Oak Insurance Company, where he was a founding member of the company, and managed all claims, sales and marketing operations. In addition to those duties, Natherson has an extensive background in the effective management of third-party vendors, claims processes and workflows, leading catastrophe operations, and corporate marketing, sales strategy, and community partnerships. He began his insurance career in 2000 as the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Services for the Florida Windstorm Underwriting Association (FWUA), and after merging with the FRPCJUA became the Director of Agent & Consumer Services for Citizens Property Insurance Corporation.
Ron has a long-standing track record of community service. He has served on the boards of the Cultural Council of Greater Jacksonville, Cultural Center at Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida Theatre, Beaches Fine Arts Series, Jacksonville Community Council, Inc. (JCCI), the Executive Board of the University of North Florida Osprey Club, Girls Inc., UNF National Alumni Association, RITA Foundation Golf Tournament, and as Chair of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s “Single Greatest Night”. He has also served as an adjunct professor of Public Administration at the University of North Florida, a member of the St. Johns County TDC Cultural Funding panel, and as Chairman for the City of Jacksonville’s Cultural Services Grant Panel, which both allocate public funding to local arts and cultural organizations. In 2007 he was named one of Jacksonville’s “40 Under 40” by The Business Journal, and in 2008 Natherson served as Tournament Chairman of THE PLAYERS Championship and is now a member of the “Honorable Company of Past Chairmen”, with over 25 years of volunteer service to the tournament.
Ron holds a Master of Public Administration and Bachelor of Business Administration in Banking and Finance, both from the University of North Florida.
He and his wife, Jenny, live in Lakewood Ranch with their daughter Lainey.
